If you prefer a slightly less passively homophobic punchline, I thought you could substitute it with "What about your former colleagues in The Police, such as Sting?". It may be more politcally correct but it is definitely shitter.

I think it might work better like this:
Did you hear that Brian Paddick has been elected as prime minister? His cabinet consists of himself, a ex- construction worker, an ex- sailor, a "leather man", a - fuck it, this is unsalvageable.
