Actually Mr Horse, it could be argued that "internet forum" as a compound noun is a neologism that just happens to use the original form of "forum" singular, in which case the common plural form of "forums" would be correct as it needn't depend on the original plural form of "fora" for its own pluralisation. See also "Computer viruses" as opposed to the incorrect "Computer virii". Yes, pedantry is much funnier than comedy.
One could indeed argue that, yes. Good point. And of course the purpose of language is to facilitate communication, and this end is not served by people like me dogmatically insisting that people comply with outdated rules from a dead language. Anyway, this thread is fantastic. Watch and learn, Pierre: THIS is comedy.
If you think you could do better, or if you think you could do worse then email homemadejokes {at} googlemail {dot} com to post. The only stipulation is that the jokes must be homemade. As you would expect given the blog title.

Yeah, but the plural of forum is fora. Remember, pedantry is much funnier than comedy.

I think its funnier if you could chuck words like discombobulator, flabber wanger, ambient resister and digital interface into this wordy arguement.
